Thomas Teresi

I initially started as a Mechanical Engineer after graduating from Robert Morris University in 2011. After several years of work in pump manufacturing and gas processing plant design, I decided to return to school and get my Masters in Mechanical and Automation Engineering at the Chinese University Hong Kong in 2015. The program there opened my eyes to automation, computer vision, and deep learning. After graduating I obtained a position as a Computer Vision Engineer at a small company that analyzed sport’s broadcasts. Now in 2021 I am joining DeepX to utilize the knowledge that I’ve gained in programming and deep learning to assist in automating everything.

I remember as a young child watching moves like Pi and AI and thinking to myself “if something like this really existed, it would be amazing”. Fast forward over a decade to when I started studying at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and it quickly dawned on me that this is happening, and this is right now. I had previously only thought that AI only existed as the little soldiers running into walls when you were playing video games. I quickly became fascinated, and began researching, studying, and implementing whatever I could.

After working in this field for several years now, my sense of amazement and fascination with the field has only grown. Whenever I press f5 or enter to begin training a model, I am always overwhelmed with anticipation to see the results.

I am so excited to be a part of this industry and field, as I know that good things for all of humanity can come from this. Solving labor shortages to finding cures, the sky is the limit with AI.
